Question about QuickMacros
#1
Hello,

I just downloaded the demo version because this seems like an interesting program.
However, what I need is a program that is also able to create utilities with a GUI (like AutoHotkey does).
I see that you can create toolbars and menus but that's not the same as creating a basic text editor for instance.
Can you create GUIs (with dedicated edit fields and buttons and such) with QuickMacros?

Skip to 33:50 time mark if the above video link doesn't go to it automatically.

Ron,

From what I can tell from the video this is a MSGbox not a real GUI. Because that is what I want to accomplish (without autohotkey which has quite a steep learning curve. QuickMacros appears to be easier to learn).

What I mean is something like this:

Or this:

Would that be possible?

From first glance, yes I think the above is very possible.
QM can do all kinds of Dialog interface controls(inputfields, grids, buttons, listboxes, dropdownlistboxes,...etc)

But QM also has a steep learning curve if you want to fully grasp dialogs.
Take a look at the below tutorials to get some basic understanding of dialogs

If you can follow and understand the above videos, then I think you can fully recreate the above dialogs you gave as an example.
It will take you some time but I think the video tutorials will help you a lot!

Thank you that clears things up! Yes the videos are very instructive.
Two last questions, just to know if it's possible, can I also add a background picture to the GUI and change the GUI color?

You can style dialogs to some extent, like: font color, static image, dialog background color,...
Actually you can do a lot regarding styles and dialogs.
Some graphical things related to dialogs can be implemented easily but other graphical stuff can become very complex. The tutorials give some basic examples related to styles but once you finished those tutorials you have to dig into the forums if you want to go deeper.
I think adding a background picture is very simple (not 100% sure) and modifying gui color is also doable without becoming to complex (dialog background color, font color,...).

From the youtube links I posted, the following tutorial covers styles to some extent:

I purchased the full version last night (European time) but I haven't yet received a download link. How long will that take?

Rob

You can download the demo version here:
http://www.quickmacros.com/download.html
You can unlock (through above menu "Help" >> "Registration") with the code you should get through mail)

If you did not receive a code, try mailing Gintaras:

I already sent him two emails but haven't heard back yet.

Got it! The confirmation email had landed in my spam filter.

Thanks.
