If on XP and 7 QM is in Unicode mode, should not be such problems. Look in Options -> General.
Probably on XP it was not Unicode, and on 7 Unicode, because it is default for new QM installations. To fix quickly, uncheck Unicode in Options. Then also must be the same ANSI language on XP and 7; it is somewhere in Control Panel -> Regional.
Other way to fix it - convert macros to Unicode. It is better/recommended, but more work. Click Convert button in Options. Read more in QM Help.
